The hot Texas sun hit the top of my bald head. It was the hot summer of 2011. It was the Marine Military Academy summer camp where I would take on my fear of heights and learn how to be part of a team.
When I first arrived at MMA, I was scared; I heard a lot of screaming. I thought I had made a mistake coming to summer camp, but I was mistaken.
In summer camp I learned how to overcome my fears in all aspects from following orders, facing fears and being friendlier. “How could I have come?” I asked myself at one point. However, in the end, I understood that I came to change.
