ESL Classmates Learn About Fellow Students

Mrs. Flores’ ESL classroom learned more than they thought they would about each other Tuesday, July 14th.  Mrs. Flores instructed students to tear off as much tissue as they thought they would need for an overnight camping trip.  Some took a few sheets while others took a couple of yards worth, bringing quite a big smile to Mrs. Flores’ face.  As students settled back in their chairs, Mrs. Flores revealed the next challenge: For each piece of tissue they had taken, they would divulge something about them...all in ENGLISH!
Over in Mrs. Dye’s classroom, each student delivered a speech about themselves…in ENGLISH…and Mrs. Dye directed questions to them. Responses were required to be all in ENGLISH, drawing a whole lot of prompting and a few giggles from fellow students. Everyone got their turn at the lectern and a hearty round of applause following their presentation.
As these students master the English language, they’ll construct kites and miniature rockets from instructions.. in ENGLISH only! And, their accomplishments will be 100% evident when the kite flies and the rocket fires!!!  OORAH!!!
